Hello everyone. I’m a big fan of Carl Jung’s work on the human psyche. He’s a genius. He has many books that are quite complex and hard to read. I enjoy his writing though, as complex and technical as it is. I like the way he talks. He seems to be very responsible with the time I give his writing.
The concepts he discovered in his research on the human mind are extremely useful and powerful. They’re the kinds of things you internalize and take with you in your daily life, and they help you better understand and make sense of yourself and those around you in such a deep and profound way.
I want to start a series of posts where I take what I learn from his writing and share the concepts here with you.
My goal is for you to learn the core concepts clearly and simply in common language. No need for you to spend years learning psychology to understand what Jung had learned. No need for you to read all his brick thick books, as beautiful as they are. No need for you to learn all the jargon involved. The concepts, at their core, are simple, and we can use simple language.
My aim with these posts is to communicate these ideas to you as clearly and simply and completely as possible. I’ll see if I can find consultants who maybe have a deeper understanding of these concepts to give me their feedback on my drafts before publishing.
What I’m hoping to come out of this with is a source for you to refer to whenever you need to remind yourself of what these ideas mean, and if you start wondering this or that you can always come back to the post. This seems like quite a high bar to aim for, but let’s see what happens.
These posts will go out at random times. Whenever I feel ready to write the post, I’ll write it. So you may not get the first tomorrow, and the second may not come the day after the first.
For now, here are the topics I want to make posts on (they will be linked if the posts are published), in order:
- The Ego
- The Shadow
- The Anima
- The Animus
- The Self
I don’t think there’s any source out there that explains them in simple language while also being complete in the material. I’ll do my best with that and see what happens. I’m both a little nervous and excited haha.
