I started writing on this series intending to focus on the structure of education and how it doesn’t focus on the individual’s learning. But as I started writing, all this emotion came out. And I realized, you’re not gonna get anyone to learn anything if they’re carrying this anger within them towards the people who are supposed to be there to teach them and help them learn.
A lot of learning is frustration, and you need a teacher who is patient, empathetic, understanding, and compassionate. How the hell do you think anyone will ever learn anything if their teacher is the one causing their frustration? Imagine a patient in a hospital who was appointed a doctor to listen to their complaints and help them heal, then the doctor is the one poisoning them. How sinful is it to lay that at the feet of the patient? Imagine further that the patient complains to the hospital administration, and all the administration says is to listen to their doctor, because that’s what the doctor is there for.
What do you think will happen here?
Is anyone gonna be healed? Will diseases be cured? Cancers treated? People healthier and stronger? What about the integrity of the medical profession? Will people ever want to be doctors? Only those who are so passionate about the medical help that they’re willing to be heroic to revive the integrity of the profession.
